WHAT IS THE FIRST-TIER TRIBUNAL
The First-tier Tribunal for Scotland (Housing and Property Chamber) was formed to deal with determinations of rent or repair issues in private sector housing as well as assistance in exercising a landlord’s right of entry. The Chamber also provides relatively informal and flexible proceedings to help resolve issues that arise between homeowners and property factors. These were the functions of the former Tribunals that the Chamber replaced: The Private Rented Housing Panel (PRHP) and Homeowner Housing Panel (HOHP). The Chamber has also started to hear more private rented sector cases including the new letting agents’ regime; transfer of jurisdiction from the sheriff courts; and new private tenancies.
Castle Estates is subject to the Letting Agent Code of Practice (Scotland) Act Regulations 2016 and if you feel we are in breach of th this code or you are not happy with the condition of your property due to the Landlord failing to comply with his statutory requirements you may be able to seek redress through the First-Tier Tribunal.
