Benefits of Using Castle Estates a Regulated Agent

Find out why using a Regulated Letting Agent is so important for both landlords and tenants

Castle Estates ensures peace of mind

Every year tenants and landlords lose thousands of pounds and suffer distress through dealing with agents who are inexperienced and do not deal with client money in a professional manner.

Castle Estates is an ARLA Regulated Agent who holds your money in a designated client account and our accounts are regularly subject to independent inspection.

What makes an ARLA Regulated Agent different

  • Backed up by Client Money Protection (CMP)

  • Accounts are regularly independently inspected

  • Professional indemnity insurance

  • Understand and comply with complex legislative changes and best practice

  • Attend regular training to keep skills and experience up-to-date

  • Experienced and trained staff

  • Comply with the professional standards of the nationally recognised Propertymark Conduct and Membership Rules

  • Requirement to publically display Client Money Protection Certificate

Castle Estates is a Regulated member of the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA), the only professional body that is solely concerned with the regulation of Letting Agents, and for 25 years has been actively promoting the highest standards across every aspect of residential letting and management. ARLA member firms are required to work within the robust Code of Practice, which covers the key stages of Letting and Management of property.

Castle Estates hold deposits with SafeDeposits Scotland

SafeDeposits is Scotland’s leading tenancy deposit scheme, which has attracted approximately 60% of the market.

They hold the deposit during the tenancy to keep it safe and make sure it’s available to be returned to the tenant at the end of the tenancy, if they've met the terms of their tenancy agreement.

They also offer an impartial adjudication service if a landlord and tenant can’t agree on who the deposit should be repaid to at the end of the tenancy. This means we’ll ask the landlord and tenant for further information so an impartial adjudicator can decide what repayment is fair.

SafeDeposits ensures that:

•  all tenancy deposits are securely held and protected;
•  all disputes about the return of the deposit are resolved quickly and fairly;
•  our service is achieved without any additional cost to either landlord or tenant.

Unlike other tenancy deposit schemes, SafeDeposits is a not-for-profit organisation, and any surpluses generated are donated to our related charity, the SafeDeposits Scotland Trust - a grant giving charity designed to promote education, training and best practice in Scotland’s private rented sector.

They are the only tenancy deposit scheme based in Scotland, operating from our central office in Glasgow city centre.

You can find out more about SafeDeposits in our welcome pack and scheme rules.

We also have a landlord FAQ and tenant FAQ to help answer your questions.

Castle Estates is a safeagent

Safeagent is the UK’s leading accreditation scheme for lettings and management agents operating in the Private Rented Sector. Established in 1999 by the Empty Homes Agency as The National Approved Letting Scheme (NALS) with the backing of the industry, the aim was to establish a single badge for consumers to look for and understand the service and protections a firm offered through adherence to strict accreditation criteria. Recently rebranded as safeagent, we are well-respected – recognised by Government, consumer groups and industry bodies. safeagent is the only agent organisation whose sole focus is consumer protection, operating across the UK on a not-for-profit basis.

Castle Estates is a Registered Agent with the Scottish Government

All Agents in Scotland are required to meet the strict standards of the Letting Agents Scotland Code of Practice which is applicable to both Landlords and Tenants and in addition register with the Scottish Government. Castle Estates Letting Agent Regulation number is LARN1810008
